Design and Analysis of a Novel Simultaneous Wireless Power and Data Transfer System With a High-Frequency Tank-Type Ferrite Core Loosely-Coupled Transformer

This paper proposes a four-winding simultaneous wireless power and data transfer (SWPDT) system with a high-frequency tank-type ferrite core loosely coupled transformer (LCT). A full analytical area product (AP) design method is presented for the LCT, which accounts for both edge effects and skin effects to optimize the configuration for simultaneous power and data transmission. The high-frequency circuit model of the whole SWPDT system is set up, and the inductance parameters and the voltage gain in the power/data channel are calculated using an analytical method. The cross-inductance and AC resistance factor are introduced in the model to characterize the high-frequency effect of the LCT winding. An experimental prototype platform for the SWPDT system is constructed. The accuracy of the full analytical AP design method and the system voltage gain analytical calculation results are verified by simulation and experimental results.
