Performance Analysis of MIMO TAS/SC System in Short Packet Communication
In this paper, the performance of MIMO system using short-packet communication (SPC) is studied via both theoretical analysis results and simulations. Particularly, transmit antenna selection (TAS) method is used at the base station (BS) to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the user (US). Furthermore, selection combining (SC) combiner is used to improve the quality of the received signal at the user. To analyze the SPC performance of MIMO TAS/SC system, we derived the closed-form expression of the average block error rate (BLER) over Rayleigh fading channels. Based on the achieved results, we demonstrated the benefits of MIMO TAS/SC for SPC in minimizing latency and improving transmission reliability. In addition, the impact of the data blocklength, the number of bits used to transmit information, the number of receive/transmit antennas at the user and base station, and the impact of channel characteristic parameters on system quality which has been analyzed.
