An Adaptive Sliding Mode Speed Controller for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor
This paper proposes a simplified adaptive sliding mode speed controller (ASMSC) for an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive system. The proposed algorithm employs the cascaded control configuration due to its simplicity and commonality in motor variable speed control, in which this controller is used for the outer speed control loop. The proposed speed controller includes two components: the first component is designed to guarantee stability, and the second one is designed to compensate for the uncertainties with respect to resistance, inductance, and inertia values. Moreover, the proposed controller has a disturbance rejection capability without prior knowledge of the external disturbance. The closed-system asymptotic stability of the outer speed control loop is ensured with both control components using the Lyapunov theory. The simulation works are carried out to validate a good tracking ability, a fast transient response, and robustness against the parameter variations.
