Resistor Array and Metamaterial on Quadruple-Slot Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna for Enhancing Bandwidth and Gain
The new quadruple-slot antipodal Vivaldi antenna, enhanced by resistor array and metamaterial, is proposed and its performances have been evaluated. The structure underwent analysis and optimization using the near-field propagation analysis method. Four antenna characteristics were considered in the analysis: the magnitude of the first clusters of Poynting vectors, direction of Poynting vector, flatness of wavefront based on Time of Arrivals (ToA) and near-field to far-field transformation for local areas. The efficiency of near-field analysis method is advantageous for structures that exhibits high performance across a broad frequency spectrum.
