A Microstrip Patch Antenna Array with Polarization Diversity
In this study, a design of microstrip patch an-tenna array that posseses polarization diversity properties is introduced. Four slotted circular patches are arranged in a 1-dimensional configuration and capacitively fed by a T-junction power divider. The polarization switching mechanism is based on the ON/OFF states of three PIN diodes, which are inserted into the divider to avoid affecting the radiation performance. The measured operating bandwidth is from 4.95 to 5.04 GHz for all operating states including linear polarization and dual-sense circular polarization. Besides, the broadside gain value is about 12 dBi and the antenna also shows good radiation patterns at 5.0 GHz.
