Hazard and risk-based allocation of safety instructions for operators applying seed treatment products

Abstract To safeguard the health of users when handling plant protection products, risk mitigation measures are prescribed as safety instructions in Germany. The safety instructions are part of the registration certificate and must be followed by operators and workers. Mitigation measures, such as using personal protective equipment, are determined in a tiered approach. They are the result of a quantitative exposure assessment in order to comply with the relevant health-based limit values. In addition, personal protective equipment is selected based on the classification and labelling of plant protection products according to the European CLP-Regulation, which is addressed in the present report.
