Um ultramaratonista em terras gregas
Interview with Fernando Miranda, writer, translator, coach and ultramarathon runner, Master in Literature and PhD in Comparative Literature, Bachelor in Physical Education and Postgraduate in Exercise Physiology. In addition to talking about training and physical preparation for long-distance running, Fernando Miranda comments on his recent participation in the Spartathlon, one of the most renowned international ultramarathon competitions, held in Greece since 1983, with a 245,3 km course connecting Athens to Sparta. With all the tradition of the Games in Ancient Greece, the meaning of Agon and myths such as that of Pheidippides make the Spartathlon very special, especially for an Athlete and Coach who combines in his rich academic background several fields of knowledge, fully suited to the Humboldtian concept of Bildung.
