Report on the 1st Workshop on Exploring Future Directions for Information Access (UnExplored FrontCHIIRS) at CHIIR 2024

The First UnExplored FrontCHIIRS Workshop [Roegiest and Trippas, 2024], held in conjunction with CHIIR 2024, asked participants to workshop and discuss potential new (or old) avenues that the community should consider as avenues for the "future of user interaction and experience for information access systems." The goal of the workshop was to focus on problems that participants would like to investigate without necessarily presupposing the use of generative technologies. Rather, the workshop sought to use this as an opportune time to pause and reflect on where the community could explore in light of all the advances (or lack thereof) in the recent past.
