Resiliency Oriented Design Considering Time-Varying Priority of Dynamic Loads
Resilience in power systems during natural disasters or cyber-physical threats poses significant challenges. A key aspect often overlooked in the literature is the dynamic nature of critical load priorities over time. This paper introduces a stochastic optimization approach for resilience-oriented design (ROD) that accounts for temporal variations in load criticality. The proposed optimization framework aims to enhance the resilience of system design against natural disasters and adversarial events. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated using the IEEE 24-bus reliability test system. The results show that incorporating the time-varying load criticality can reduce investment costs while maintaining a level of grid resilience comparable to that of assuming constant criticality.
