On the theory of bi-chromatic pulsed ring lasers with synchronized transient Raman amplification

Analytical theory is presented for a minimal model of a Raman frequency converter with a periodically modulated/pulsed pump wave. The derived solution also describes a nonlinear Poincaré mapping in a dual-wavelength pulsed Raman laser with synchronous pumping. The particular considered lasing regime features trains of M pump and M-N Stokes optical pulses coexisting in the resonator with the same repetition rate and shifting relative to each other by N periods after every round trip.

Abstract

Analytical theory is presented for a minimal model of a Raman frequency converter with a periodically modulated/pulsed pump wave. The derived solution also describes a nonlinear Poincaré mapping in a dual-wavelength pulsed Raman laser with synchronous pumping. The particular considered lasing regime features trains of M pump and M-N Stokes optical pulses coexisting in the resonator with the same repetition rate and shifting relative to each other by N periods after every round trip.
