Review of the 2nd Comprehensive Plan for Character Education in the Temperament(氣質之性) according to Zhu-Xi: Based on the Zhu-Xi’s Yulu

According to Zhu-Xi, human’s character, or xing(性), is consisted of two dispositions of the original nature(本然之性) and temperament(氣質之性) which are inherited by nature. The temperament education may begin from rectifying the bias one already has. However, it is surely not easy to change the inherent temperament solely by one’s own strength. When looking at the background of the second comprehensive plan for Character education, educational goals, and ways to strengthen character education, compared to the first comprehensive plan for Character education, it is necessary to explore various factors of human character, such as the student's spectrum of personality and changes in society, and how to practice balanced personality education considering human temperament intelligence.
