Improved Control Strategy for Grid fed Battery Assisted Induction Motor Based Electric Vehicle
An effective method for controlling battery power in electric vehicles to improve their communication with the electrical grid is presented in this research study. This method makes battery charging via the grid possible, and electricity is sent to the grid when required. An induction motor is used in the electric vehicle's sensorless field-oriented control system. The motor is controlled by a 3-leg Voltage Source Inverter (VSI), and on the other side, the converter on the grid side is interfaced with the utility grid. A buck-boost converter is incorporated to flow the power in both directions. The Unit Vector Template (UVT) concept controls the bidirectional power flow between the 3-phase VSI and the standard DC bus voltage that links to the induction motor drive of the electric vehicle. Furthermore, this method enhances power quality by preserving a unity power factor (UPF) and lowering THD. In addition to outlining the mathematical model and system-wide power management strategy, the study presents and evaluates the findings from MATLAB/Simulink simulations. The outcomes of the real-time tests demonstrate that the existing system satisfies the IEEE 519–2014 standard's performance requirements and maintains stability under dynamic circumstances.
