POETICS OF BORDERLINESNESS IN THE YE. ZHARIKOVA`S POETRY “PAPERCUT”: THEME OF HOMELESSNESS
The issue of the phenomena correlation of trauma, memory, and history in Ukrainian poetry is relevant to war reality because it provokes the creation of texts, a prominent feature of which is existential aesthetics, aiming to evidence and reaction which appear in the author`s intention regarding the development of the theme of borderlinesness as a summation of the existential circle of problems regarding borderline states of consciousness and situations of moral choice. These tendencies are watched, the first, in combatant poetry even if it is divided thematically from outlining of militant theme itself: motifs of war and exile as a loss of existential ground are present in these texts on different levels but foremost – on the level of plot and imagestructures and mythopoetic models, via of which the modus of organizing of the artistic space of the works are emerged. In poems with that thematic aim, a mythic image of the home is one of the symbols of spiritual consolidation (as personal integrity and as a connection between nation generations). In the paper, we analyzed one of such works – the poem “Papercut” from the gathering “Between Love and Love” by Ye. Zharikova, of a poet, a musician, a combatant. The research purpose aims to outline: 1. The motif of home loss trauma as an expression of the character`s ideals crushing; 2. The motif of memory and post-traumatic growth as a movement to own integrity via the overcoming of fear and confusion in the face of (not)being. The paper`s methodology reveals the attempt to connect the hermeneutic approach, mythic and poetical analysis, archetype critics, imagology, interdisciplinaryperspective and receptive aesthetic, which allows us to analyze comprehensively the structural and content canvas of the poetry. Particularly methods such as historical and typological, historical and comparative, and psycho-biographical were applied which allowed to determine the role of analyzed work within the context of modern Ukrainian poetry and retrace its genealogical connection with conceptions of existentialism which appeared in writing and philosophical environment of Ukrainian emigration of XX century. According to the results, it was determined the semantical, archetypical and symbolical content of the poem, was accented on the existential characteristics of the idea and thematic matrix of the work, there was analyzed the connectionconceptual content of the poetry headline with the motif of trauma and its overcoming. In conclusion, it is proven that Ukrainian poetry of wartime reflects not only the recent events and ontological situation in which the Ukrainian nation is found. Modern Ukrainian poetry also considers and rethinks the spiritual legacy of the last century. The theme of home loss and groundlessness was one of the central ones in the philosophy and art of Ukrainian emigration. Ukrainian authors suggested their explanation of the existential ideology which is inherent to the Ukrainian mentality, the main idea of which was the idea of rooting in the native national ground. This idea on the myth and poetics level is echoing also in modern combatant poetry.
