Strategisk akademisk kompetanseutvikling – en caseanalyse av veien til førstelektorkvalifisering
This article highlights the importance of competence development for academic staff in higher education. It discusses a study that examined the impact of a competence development program aimed at supporting lecturers in qualifying for the position of “senior lecturer” (equivalent to “associate professor”). Findings reveal that sufficient resources, clear promotion criteria, and ongoing guidance are crucial for success in promotions and publishing. Notably, research qualifications receive significantly more attention in evaluation reports than teaching qualifications, despite regulations emphasizing pedagogical practice. The study suggests a need for a dedicated research discipline on career and competence development in higher education.
