DDevops for Optimizing Database Management: Practice Implementation, Challenges and Comparison with the Context-Based Approach

Integrating DevOps practices into database management presents unique challenges that must be addressed to fully harness the benefits of agile development and continuous delivery. The rapid and iterative nature of DevOps often clashes with traditional database management methodologies, leading to inefficiencies and bottlenecks. This paper explores the challenges organizations encounter when implementing DevOps to optimize database management, including managing the complexities of data state, ensuring synchronization between application and database changes, and automating database deployments. It also highlights the cultural shift needed to bridge the divide between development and operations teams, underscoring the importance of collaboration and communication. In meeting these challenges, database management practices can be effectively incorporated into DevOps workflows to create greater operational efficiencies, faster delivery cycles and improved quality. We finish this research paper by comparing DevOps approach for database management with the context approach that we have used to improve database administration procedures.
