Similarities and differences A. Xenopol’s and N. Berdyaev’s philosophy of history
The philosophy of history is one of the key branches of philosophy, focused on understanding the direction and patterns of historical movement. Central to this field is the question: can the past teach humanity, and what is man’s place in history? Studying the laws of history is essential to avoid fatalism. Regardless of the envisioned future, it is humanity’s future in all its specific traits. The philosophy of history addresses complex questions, such as the object of history, its laws, causality, meaning, and value. An in-depth study of A. Xenopol’s and N. Berdyaev’s works reveals the uniqueness of their contributions to these issues. The purpose of this research is to analyze their concepts, demonstrating their impact on the understanding of the historical process, as well as the methodology and epistemology of history.
