Effects of tip bionic chamber on tip clearance leakage and aerodynamic performance of a compressor cascade
This paper uses a three-dimensional numerical simulation to analyze the influence of a tip bionic chamber on the clearance leakage and aerodynamic performance of a compressor cascade. The effect of chamber geometry and position on tip leakage separation has been investigated. Research indicates that the tip bionic chamber enhances flow resistance in the clearance by generating a trapped vortex, inhibiting leakage vortex separation, and lowering the total pressure loss coefficient. The suppression effect on total pressure loss and leakage flow rate first increases and then decreases as the depth of the tip biomimetic chamber gradually increases. The placement of the biomimetic blade chamber in the vicinity of the starting position of the leakage vortex at the tip is more effective than its placement only in the last 50% of the chord length. The total pressure loss can be reduced by 0.32%, and the clearance leakage flow rate can be reduced by 0.91% by placing a chamber depth of 0.8 mm (0.8% H) within the first 50% of the chord length at the blade tip.
