Correlation of Thermal Mode with the Limit Electrical Load of High Voltage Carbon Resistors
High-voltage impulse installations have found wide use within the scope of testing structures and equipment for the action of an electromagnetic field and electric discharges, as well as in the field of materials processing. One of the important elements of such installations are high-voltage resistors, which are used in the capacitor charge units, the forming unit, and also as the main elements of measuring voltage dividers. The purpose of this work is to determine the thermophysical characteristics of TVO-10 and TVO-60 resistors, taking into account the dependence of the heat transfer coefficient on the overheating of the resistor, as well as establishing the relationship between the thermal mode and the limit electrical loads of the resistors. Methods of experimental determination of heat capacity and heat transfer of volumetric elements, methods of integro-differential mathematical modeling, as well as a method of empirical confirmation of calculation results during the operation of resistors in the second and millisecond range of current flow were used. According to the results of resource tests of resistors, a method of electrothermal calculation of the optimal operating mode was proposed.
