Pilot Protection Scheme Based on Spatial Spectrum Differences for Transmission Lines Connected to Wind Farm
Compared to traditional power plants, large-scale wind farms have significant differences in fault characteristics, which brings challenges to the protection of transmission lines. This paper proposes a pilot protection scheme based on spatial spectrum differences for transmission lines connected wind farm. First, the MUSIC algorithm is used to analyze the spatial spectrum of current signals at both ends of transmission line. The power frequency energy ratio is then calculated based on the spatial spectrum analysis, and the difference in energy ratios of the two ends of the line is compared to identify internal and external faults. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme performs well under different fault distances and fault resistances.
