Application of The Extended Decrease-Resistance Method for Tower Grounding Grid Based on Flexible Graphite Planar Electrodes

The grounding grid of transmission line towers in mountainous areas is complex due to the terrain, and the conventional long-extent installation method is limited, resulting in difficulty in effectively reducing the grounding resistance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an innovative grounding resistance reduction scheme combining fractal extended grounding grid and flexible graphite planar-shaped electrodes. Through simulation analysis of the influence of different flexible graphite planar-shaped electrode installation lengths and widths on the grounding characteristics, it was found that the scheme can significantly improve the grounding resistance in the terrain-limited conditions. The results show that the larger the installation length and width of the flexible graphite planar-shaped electrode, the more significant the reduction in grounding resistance, especially when compared with the traditional long-extent grounding grid, the fractal extended grounding grid with flexible graphite planar-shaped electrodes shows similar or even better grounding resistance reduction effect. It provides important reference value for the optimization design of transmission line tower grounding grid in mountainous areas.
