Analysis on Adaptive Current Protection for High Proportion New Energy Grids
The high proportion of new energy connected to the grid has changed the operating characteristics of the power grid, especially the high proportion of new energy generation on the power supply side has significantly changed the short-circuit fault characteristics of the power grid. The coupling of limiting effects, nonlinearity, volatility and other characteristics of new energy leads to a mismatch between the actual short-circuit current and the current protection setting, directly resulting in a significant decrease in the performance of traditional current protection or even its unavailability. Therefore, improving traditional current protection methods in the context of high proportion of new energy integration has high theoretical significance and engineering value. Current protection determines the fault interval based on the comparison of short-circuit current and action setting, and then acts to cut off the fault in the device. This article will compare and study the effectiveness and applicability of adaptive current protection methods from the perspectives of short-circuit current and action setting.
