Evaluation of Flexibility Measures for Rational Utilization of Renewable Energy
Under China's strong promotion of green and low-carbon energy development, renewable energy, represented by wind and solar power, will continue to experience rapid growth. Due to the randomness and volatility of wind and solar power generation, insufficient system flexibility during certain periods can lead to curtailment of wind and solar power, placing enormous pressure on the accommodation of renewable energy. Selecting effective measures to enhance system flexibility to promote renewable energy consumption has become a key research direction. This paper, based on stochastic production simulation methods, proposes a flexibility measure evaluation model with generation cost as the objective function. It selects the power grid of typical provinces in China as the research object and compares the different effects of flexibility measures under regional variations. The study findings show that flexibility measures enhance the integration of renewable energy, significantly boosting its utilization rate while lowering both the total costs and carbon emissions of the power system. The impact of various flexibility measures varies depending on the installed capacity ratios of different grids.
