A Broadband and Highly Sensitive Fiber Optic F-P Geophone With Low Crosstalk

An acceleration detection technology with a wide frequency bandwidth, high sensitivity, and low cross sensitivity based on Fabry-Pérot (F-P) is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. A tailored theoretical model of the F-P geophone based on wavelength demodulation is established and researched in detail. The design idea of broadening the frequency band to maintain high sensitivity and low crosstalk characteristics is considerately analyzed and optimized. The corresponding device based on the design idea is fabricated. The experimental results obtained show that the resonant frequency of the geophone is 1310.2 Hz, the sensitivity within the frequency bandwidth is 1.33–2.21 nm/G, and the crosstalk is less than 4.99%, which indicate that the geophone designed has good response characteristics. Therefore, this type is a potential candidate in the field of cross-well seismic exploration.
