Repurposing guselkumab to target itch in disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis: insights from RNA sequencing
Disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis (DSAP) is characterized by numerous erythematous or brown papules or plaques predominantly occurring in sun-exposed areas of the skin. Some patients with DSAP experience moderate to severe itching that often proves resistant to antihistamine treatment. The present case highlights the potential of guselkumab as a novel therapeutic approach for patients with DSAP who have intractable pruritus. The successful treatment and subsequent RNA sequencing analysis suggest a possible link between DSAP and inflammatory pathways, particularly those associated with inflammatory bowel disease and psoriasis, opening new avenues for research and treatment.
