PALUDISME : PREVENTION ET TRAITEMENT DU PALUDISME EN COMMUNE V DU DISTRICT DE BAMAKO
Malaria is a complex disease in terms of prevention. In Bamako's Commune V, its prevention leads sufferers and their families to use various strategies to protect themselves. Malaria is the main reason for prenatal consultations (CPN). It is a cause of complications during childbirth, a public health problem and a cause of death among pregnant women and children under five in Mali. In this study, we used a qualitative method based on individual semi-directive interviews, supported by documentary research. The results show that people in Bamako's Commune V use both modern and traditional strategies to prevent malaria. The modern arsenal of malaria prevention consists of a combination of materials, tools and techniques, including seasonal chemoprevention (SCP), which uses both the tool (product) and the material, intra-domiciliary spraying (IDS), intermittent preventive treatment (IPT) and free distribution of long-lasting impregnated mosquito nets (LLINs). Traditional strategies, on the other hand, include packing less luggage in the bedroom, using tools such as wire mesh to protect windows and doors, filling holes in front of houses, using strategies such as lighting Neem leaves in the bedroom before bedtime, using lit orange peels in the bedroom before bedtime, observing methods of home and environmental hygiene, and using strategies such as aerosols and spirals. All these arsenals are used to combat malaria by guardians of children under five and pregnant women in the health area of Bamako's Commune V. Keywords: Bamako, children under five, pregnant women, malaria, strategies.
