PAUVRETE DES FEMMES ET ETUVAGE DU RIZ PAR LA SOCIETE COOPERATIVE BADENYA DE DIORO

The poverty of women in general and that of rural women in particular remains a deep concern of the Malian authorities and their partners. Parboiling, which is one of the key links in the rice production chain, appears to be one of the best solutions in the hands of development institutions to effectively combat this scourge in Dioro among women parboilers. The work of the National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT: 2020) has shown that poverty is essentially rural and the social class most affected by the phenomenon remains women, due to their lack of participation in recognized economic activities. Following intensive qualitative research, it turned out that in light of the work of Bourdieu (Fine: 1998), the participation of women in development on an equal footing with men has been the subject of several scientific productions such as: the "well-being" of women, "equity" between women and men, the "efficiency" of women, the "fight against poverty of women. » Realizing the limits of these approaches for the full development of women, researchers, development partners and the State emphasize the empowerment of women. The methodical use of agricultural value chains (Royal Tropical Institute of Amsterdam: 2013) seems to better respond to this concern. Despite its existence since 2004, the Badenya cooperative society struggles to have its financial autonomy and to effectively fight against the monetary poverty of its members. Abstract
