Switching from intravenous to oral antibiotic therapy in the treatment of infective endocarditis: a case series and literature review of real-world data
In a real-world setting, stepping down to POT after an initial IV regimen proved effective and safe in clinically stable IE patients. This approach offers advantages such as shorter hospital stays, enhanced quality of life and cost savings. Further data are needed to validate these findings and expand the use of oral regimens in broader clinical contexts.
