Facile Synthesis of Co3O4 with Different Morphologies as High-Performing Supercapacitor Material

In this paper, different morphologies of Co 3 O 4 were successfully synthesized onto nickel foam with the simple hydrothermal approach through modifying reaction conditions. Our results demonstrate that the reaction conditions not only impact the material morphology but also electrochemical characters. Co 3 O 4 that has a beam structure exhibits excellent capacitance properties, which are 816 and 600 F g −1 at 1 and 10 A g −1 separately. This electrode material also demonstrates satisfactory cycling performance, and its capacitance retention reaches 85.3% following 2000 cycles at 8 A g −1 . These findings provide an opportunity to optimize hydrothermal manufacturing conditions for controlling sample morphology and electrochemical characters.
