PERSPECTIVA DO USO DA TOXINA BOTULÍNICA NO TRATAMENTO DE CEFALEIA CRÔNICA

Headache is a disease with high prevalence in the Brazilian population, with symptoms such as headache, sensitivity to light, nausea and vomiting, resulting in functional and social impairment to the individual, which interferes with well-being and reduces productivity. In this context, it is common for patients to undergo treatment, through medical supervision, through the use of drugs (beta-blockers, antidepressants, serotonin antagonists) or through the indiscriminate use of analgesics and anti-inflammatories, which can favor the appearance of side effects and, often, the intensification and chronicity of pain. In this perspective, clinical studies indicate the administration of botulinum toxin type A, also known as neurotoxin type A, as a minimally invasive and relevant strategy for the prophylactic treatment of cephalalgia, minimizing the frequency of pain.
