Surface wettability control by multibranched polymer architectures
Abstract Focusing on a single molecule of multibranched polymers, the surface properties of silicon wafers modified with multibranched polymers, such as linear, comb-like, and arborescent polymers, having hydrosilyl groups were investigated. The polymer-modified surfaces showed hydrophobicity, and the water-contact angle increased with increasing polymer branching generation. It was revealed that the structure of a single molecule of a multibranched polymer enables control of surface wettability.
