Primary tibial bone involvement in Rosai Dorfman Disease treated with surgery and radiotherapy; case report and literature review
Rosai-Dorfman disease is a rare benign disease that is characterized by over-production and accumulation of white blood cells, known as (histiocytes) in the lymph nodes (nodal) or any other areas of the body (extranodal). It usually presents as painless, massive cervical lymphadenopathy. Extranodal disease involvement is also common but isolated primary involvement of bone is rare. We present a case of isolated primary tibial bone involvement in Rosai-Dorfman disease as the only presentation. It was treated with surgery in the form of curettage and bone cementing with adjuvant radiotherapy. Five years of follow-up did not show any recurrence or disease dissemination.
