Mathematical background
This appendix introduces some of the underlying mathematics used in other chapters to support the understanding of readers who may not have knowledge of the areas of mathematics used in modern cryptography. The topics covered are binary numbers, the XOR operation on sequences of bits, and modular arithmetic.
