Design and implementation of a secure network infrastructure for enhanced digital learning at Mandaluyong high school

This study presents the design and implementation of an enhanced network infrastructure for Mandaluyong High School, focusing on enhancement in terms of security, reliability, and scalability to support the increasing demands of modern educational environments. The study addresses limitations in the school’s previous network, including restricted coverage, frequent downtime, and security vulnerabilities. A dual-ISP configuration was introduced to ensure network redundancy, while centralized management through VLAN segmentation and access control was implemented to improve security and bandwidth allocation. The project follows the Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC) methodology, with the implementation covering 2 buildings (Gonzales Hall and Abalos Building). Key security measures, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), firewall protections, and WPA3 protocol, were applied to safeguard student and faculty data. Preliminary results from this deployment indicate improved connectivity, a 30% reduction in latency, and higher user satisfaction scores. This model demonstrates a scalable, secure approach to network infrastructure in educational settings, with potential implementation across additional buildings.
