Abstract Educational Science Practices. A Sketch of Historical-Praxeological Research on the History of Knowledge in Educational Science Using the Example of Herwig Blankertz The article begins by outlining a general structure of academic practices observed within the university context across various disciplinary cultures. In the next section, selected archival documents and publications by Herwig Blankertz are analyzed to reconstruct specific academic-epistemic practices, including the written and verbal formulation of thoughts as well as the collection, organization, and systematization of scholarly texts and statements. Finally, after distinguishing between different dimensions of theoretical research in educational science, the article examines whether – and to what extent – these reconstructed academic-epistemic practices can already be considered a form of »doing theory«.
