Abstract The Production of Knowledge in Research upon Educational Research. Epistemology – Approaches – Findings This article examines the production of knowledge in research upon educational research. It shows how research upon educational research, which has been represented by a subdivision within the German Educational Research Association since the 1980s, has developed special observation categories that examine the disciplinary self-image. The article provides an overview of empirical projects in research upon educational research, discusses their connection to Science & Technology Studies (STS) and reflects on what this research is or can be useful for.
