CORRELATION OF ENGINE WARM-UP TIME WITH AIR TEMPERATURE VALUE

To solve the problems of correct operation of diesel engines used in agricultural machinery, it is necessary to search for ways to improve their functioning in various modes. The performed review of literature sources and their analysis revealed the particular relevance of warming up a diesel engine depending on the ambient air temperature values for correct and uninterrupted operation, which is the key to a significant increase in the service life of a diesel engine. The key evaluation parameter for determining the engine warm-up is the coolant or crankcase oil temperature. The purpose of the studies is to establish a correlation between the duration of warming up a diesel engine with the ambient air temperature value in the range from +20 to - 30 ° C. The object of the studies was a diesel engine and coolant. The duration of the engine warm-up process was estimated depending on the ambient air temperature and the load mode of the D-240 engine. Temperature values were determined using a sensor provided by the manufacturer, attached to the engine. The obtained readings are visible on the instrument panel. The engine was operated at idle speed, under loads of 1/3, 2/3 of the nominal or full load. The ambient temperature was -30, -20, -10, 0, +10, and +20 0C. Based on the experiments, a correlation was made between the duration of warming up the diesel engine depending on the ambient temperature. An analysis of the studies conducted showed that warming up the engine at idle speed is a long process and is not always possible. To speed it up, it is necessary to warm up the engine under load, and also to use an insulating cover, which leads to a reduction in unproductive downtime of the tractor.
