QUALITY OF LIFE OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES: AN ECOSYSTEM PERSPECTIVE

This article explores the quality of life (QoL) among university students with disabilities through the lens of Bio-ecological Systems Theory and its Process-Person-Context-Time (PPCT) model. This approach integrates insights from biological, psychological, and social sciences to examine the complex interactions between students and their environments, from microsystems to macrosystems. We clarify how environmental elements and individual traits influence students experiences by concentrating on dynamic engagement and interaction processes throughout time. Building on Bronfenbrenners work, we highlight the role of social support systems, academic validation, and quality interactions within educational settings. This study also reviews the historical evolution and empirical foundation of Bio-ecological Systems Theory, stressing its relevance to modern special education.
