Spectrum Status Aware Dynamic Routing and Spectrum Allocation in Elastic Optical Network
The flexible grid multiplexing technique in Elastic Optical Network (EON) offers enhanced spectral efficiency and greater flexibility. However, a significant challenge in these networks is the increased blocking probability due to increased flexibility. To address this, we have introduced a dynamic weight mechanism in which the link weights are determined by the maximum unoccupied contiguous spectrum slices present in them. The link weight is relative which depends on the other link’s spectrum status. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm reduces blocking probability more effectively than the benchmark algorithms by incorporating spectrum constraint-related status into link weights, leading to improved spectrum utilization.
