Enhancing Mobile Network Security through O-RAN: Architectural Solutions for Physical Layer Attack Detection
The Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) architecture offers unprecedented flexibility, innovation, and security enhancements. This paper explores O-RAN’s application in three critical domains: Localization, Jamming Detection, and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS). By leveraging O-RAN’s open and programmable interfaces, precise localization is enabled for emergency services and asset tracking, while jamming assaults are effectively mitigated to ensure reliable communication. O-RAN’s integration with IDS also strengthens network security through real-time monitoring and sophisticated attack response mechanisms by integrating localization and Jamming Detection. O-RAN adapts to evolving security challenges, improving network performance, resilience, and user satisfaction. At the same time, we are focusing on a set of strategies to develop a solution for physical layer attack detection.
