Cooperative Operation Control Strategy of Multi-Type Reactive Power Compensation Devices in Regional Power Grid with High Proportion of Wind Power

The proportion of wind power (WP) capacity in the power system is steadily increasing, leading to a transformation of the regional power grid from a traditional receiving grid to a sending grid with a significant share of WP. The inherent uncertainty in WP output has heightened concerns about the effective allocation of reactive power (RP)flow and the stability of voltage within these grids. To address these issues, this paper investigates the voltage operating characteristics of regional power grids with a high WP share, beginning with an overview of the operational principles of typical RP compensation devices (RPCDs) used in such grids. The performance of RPCDs under various typical operating conditions is then analyzed. Subsequently, an optimization model for the coordinated operation of multiple RPCD types is proposed. This model aims to minimize the operational costs associated with static RPCDs while maximizing the dynamic RPCDs’ ability to actively support grid operation. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed method’s effectiveness.
