RESULTS OF BENCH TESTS OF BLENDED FUELS BASED ON RENEWABLE RAW MATERIALS

The composition and performance properties of fuels play a major role in the fuel delivery and mixture formation processes, and largely determine the effective performance of engines and the toxicity of exhaust gases. Pure biodiesel fuel differs significantly from petroleum diesel fuel in some physical and chemical characteristics, and to ensure normal operation of a diesel engine without additional modifications, their characteristics must be brought closer together. This can be achieved by using a blended fuel and special treatment. Tests conducted on a D-245.12C diesel engine showed improved toxicity of exhaust gases when using mixtures of diesel fuel with methyl esters of substandard vegetable oils as motor fuel, and with an increase in the concentration of the bioadditive in the blended fuel, the toxicity indicators improve. It has been established that cavitation treatment of the blended fuel also affects its indicators - there is a decrease in density, viscosity, flash point, and freezing point. Comparative tests of diesel mixed fuel processed using the developed modular mixer-activator on the D243 engine showed that the processing allows not only to better mix the components, but also to improve the values of the physical and chemical indicators, bringing them closer to unprocessed diesel fuel. The optimal composition of mixed fuel can be considered to contain 80% diesel fuel and 20% bioadditive mixed using a mixer-activator. The use of such a composition provides a noticeable improvement in the environmental performance of the diesel engine with an insignificant decrease in effective power and deterioration in fuel efficiency, compared to mixed fuel with a high content of bioadditive, for which the effective power and fuel efficiency are reduced more seriously, although with higher environmental performance of the engine. Key words: diesel fuel, methyl ether, mixed fuel, mixer-activator, diesel, environmental characteristics, effective parameters.
