Comparison of Different Horticultural Components in Terms of Fish Equivalent Yield (FEY) for Promoting Intensive Farming System

A field experiment was undertaken at the Fishery Research Centre, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat-13, during 2020-2021 to study the “Contribution of ornamentals and non-ornamentals in promoting Intensive Farming System”. The experiment was carried out in bamboo stand consisting of two blocks per treatment (tier system) with five treatments in Randomized Block Design and replicated four times. The treatments were T0 {Fishery (Control)}, T1 (Fishery + Ornamental crops), T2 (Fishery + vegetable crops), T3 (Fishery + Medicinal and aromatic plants) and T4 (Fishery + Fruit crops). Media taken for the experiment was a mixture of Sand: Cocopeat: Vermicompost: Vermiculite: Perlite in a ratio of 1:2:2:0.25:0.25. The results revealed that all the treatment systems significantly influenced and contributed to the generation of income from the different horticultural crops in combination with fishery. In terms of yield generation i.e. the highest Fish Equivalent yield (FEY) of 250.84 kg was recorded in treatment T1 (Fishery + Ornamental crops).
