Families’ Experiences of Surrogate Decision-Making and Challenges of Shared Decision-Making: A Cross-Sectional Study
The findings suggest that medical professionals should encourage family members to make decisions in keeping with the patient's wishes and provide the patient's information, including risk information, to help them understand the treatment. In addition, considering the mental stress and burden on family members, it is necessary to consider the process of discussion among family members while providing mental support to facilitate the decision-making process.
