Endometrial Actinomycosis in a Patient with Uterine Leiomyoma and Abnormal Uterine Bleeding in the Absence of an Intrauterine Contraceptive Device: A Rare Case Report

Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) can occur due to various reasons in females according to their age and most prevalent risk factors. Among them, uterine fibroids are the most common cause of AUB in perimenopausal females. Endometrial actinomycosis is seen sometimes in females with Intrauterine contraceptive devices, but isolated endometrial actinomycosis is very rare, and as per our knowledge, only four cases are reported; among them, two cases are of ovarian actinomycosis, one endometrial actinomycosis in virgin female and one in a postmenopausal female. This case was interesting, as our patient who was perimenopausal and immunocompetent presented with AUB and was diagnosed to have endometrial actinomycosis along with a large leiomyoma.
