Modeling of Supersonic Flow around Bodies of Revolution of Different Shapes

The present work is devoted to the development of a numerical approach and parallel program code for studying the processes of supersonic gas flows around solid bodies of complex geometry. The main objective of the work is to analyze the behavior of numerical algorithms developed on the basis of a quasi-gasdynamic (QGD) system of equations and using unstructured hybrid grids. Bodies of revolution of different shapes are selected as streamlined objects. The gas medium is represented by dry air. The QGD system is considered in a one-component formulation and supplemented with the equations of state of an ideal gas and the dependences of the kinetic coefficients on temperature and pressure. In numerical experiments, axisymmetric flows around a cylinder, an ellipsoid, and a compound body are considered. Calculations are performed for three values of the inlet flow velocity. The obtained results confirm the correctness of the developed computational technology.
