El psicoanálisis le ayudará: un diálogo entre psicoanálisis, sociología y vanguardia

Idilio was a weekly published in Buenos Aires between 1948 and 1951. This publication had women as its target audience and stood out for the section «El psicoanálisis le ayudará» in which the readers sent the stories about their dreams. The sociologist Gino Germani and the social psychologist Enrique Butelman analyzed these stories and published under the pseudonym Richard Rest. These texts were completed with the photomontages by Grete Stern, a German photographer trained at the Bauhaus who had come to Argentina fleeing Nazi persecution. These photomontages placed Argentine women at the center of the scene in a political moment marked by the social and economic transformations of first Peron’s government. During his career, Stern always defended photomontage as a technique with great potential for representing the oniric world. Through the analysis of this case, we propose a reflection on the context in which psychoanalysis transcended from the intellectual and artist circuits to become a content of great attractiveness and consumption in the mass media
