A Compact Dual-Element MIMO Antenna withT-Shaped Ground Plane for mm-Wave 5G Applications

The proposed study introduces a compact MIMO antenna system featuring two elements. The structure has a very less size of $43 \times 34.9 \mathbf{~ m m}^{2}$ and incorporates a T-shaped ground plane, which provides a low impedance path to ground for RF signals. It is mounted on an FR4 substrate with Er= 4.4. The designed antenna operates in the frequency range of 11.8 GHz to 16 GHz, making it suitable for 5 G applications. The antenna’s performance was designed and analyzed using Ansoft HFSS 13.0 software, with calculations specifically performed for a frequency of 15 GHz. The designed MIMO antenna achieves a return loss of $\mathbf{-3 3. 5 6} \mathrm{dB}$ and a maximum gain at 15 GHz. Additionally, the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of the designed antenna is 1.04.
