Preparation And Physical And Chemical Characterisation Of PLA/RGO Composite

Bio polymeric materials like Poly($\alpha$-hydroxy ester) play a crucial role in tissue engineering. However, their inherent surface hydrophobicity and lack of adequate electrical conductivity pose significant limitations for specific applications, particularly in neural tissue engineering. This study investigates the impact of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) incorporation into a polylactic acid (PLA)-rGO composite on the physical, chemical, and electrical properties of the scaffold surface. XRD and FE-SEM analyses confirmed the formation of the rGO structure. Contact angle measurements revealed that despite rGO’s inherent hydrophobicity, its addition up to 3% did not significantly affect the composite’s hydrophilicity. SEM images further demonstrated that the presence of rGO particles increased surface roughness. Electrical conductivity measurements indicated that the $3 \%$ rGO composite exhibited a conductivity of $10^{\wedge}-4 \mathrm{~S} / \mathrm{m}$, suggesting promising potential for neural tissue engineering scaffold applications.
