Design and Development of LIDAR Based Next Generation Embedded system for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication
Efficient communication between vehicles is crucial for improving road safety and optimizing traffic flow. This paper presents a novel Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication system using LIDAR sensors and a LiFi-based protocol, integrated with microcontrollers and interactive displays. The proposed system is designed for small autonomous electric vehicles, incorporating an embedded communication framework and a collision-avoidance algorithm to enhance safety. In addition, a platooning control system is developed, enabling seamless vehicle communication for coordinated driving, including handling vehicle interferences and separations. The primary goal of this system is to establish a real-time communication network between vehicles, allowing them to exchange alerts, messages, and traffic updates without relying on infrastructure-based traffic control methods. Unlike traditional systems, which often lack adaptability and coverage, this decentralized approach offers increased flexibility and scalability. Experimental results from multiple platooning configurations of small electric vehicles demonstrate the system’s effectiveness in improving vehicle coordination and reducing traffic-related incidents.
