Preparation of Injectable Alginate-based Hydrogel with Enhanced Mechanical Properties
In recent years, there has been an increasing need for innovative strategies to repair and regenerate bone defects. This study aimed to enhance the mechanical properties of alginate-based hydrogels by developing an alginate/silk fibroin composite with a porous and well-interconnected structure. Strontium, combined with calcium, was used as a cross-linking agent. Additionally, we investigated the role of Alendronate, a bisphosphonate, in enhancing the mechanical properties of injectable alginate/silk fibroin hydrogels. Our data demonstrated a significant increase in the compressive strength of the final hydrogels due to the inclusion of Alendronate.
